YORK, Pa. (Business Wire) -- The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) is
pleased to announce that its two signature cause-marketing events,
Community Day and the Goodwill® Sale, generated millions of dollars for its communities. The Bon-Ton
Stores eight nameplates: Bon-Ton, Boston Store,
Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner's, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's, Younkers and
Parisian (Detroit-area) held their signature Community Day and Goodwill
events this spring to kick-off charitable giving in 2009.

Community Day

The semi-annual Community Day event was held on February 28, 2009 and raised nearly $4 million for local
nonprofit organizations and agencies. The event provides an opportunity for local 501(c) (3) organizations to
raise monies to support their missions. Local nonprofit groups sell discount savings booklets each spring
and fall and retain 100% of the money for their charity. In return for their donation to the organizations,
customers receive a $10 coupon and multiple discounts. This successful event will occur again in the fall of
2009. Bon-Ton continues to support organizations in its communities that rely on this event as their primary
fund raiser.

After seeing Bryan Bittenbender in this photo
I wonder if the placement of the sign and
where Bryan was standing was an
coincidence or a cleaver way to get the big
bucks put in his jar.
