CHAPTER 678
Sitrep
January, February, March 2009
The situation report (sitrep) for the operations of VVA Pocono Chapter 678 of Northeast Pennsylvania.

2008 Presidents Award presented to
Tom White

President Glen Lippincott presented the
President*s Award to Tom at a Sunday
farewell luncheon at Big Daddy*s restaurant
in Swiftwater, PA.
A display case for medals and memorabilia
was presented in lieu of a plaque because of
Tom*s high profile Chapter 678 service. Tom
gave a short speech about his time with us.

Tom remarked; *I enjoyed my old Chapter in
New Jersey, but I had more fun with you
guys!* Tom pledged that he would hang the
display case in a place of honor at his new
home.
We wish him well and hope he can enrich the
lives of his fellow Vietnam vets in Virginia.

Tom White joined us as a transfer from a NJ
VVA Chapter. He quickly became involved as
a product sales chairman,
Single-point-of-contact (SPOC), Officer, and
newsletter editor.
Tom also was a valuable member to our
In-School primary source history program. His
wit and interaction with the other presenters
added a humorous dimension to our Vietnam
War program. His presence was noted and
sorely missed at the recent In-school program
at Pocono Mountain High School-West.

We wish both Tom and his wife, Judy as well
as Chuck the best on their move to the South
and a healthy New Year.

Chapter 678 loses members to the South
It was a bittersweet ceremony at the
November Chapter regular meeting.

Charles *Chuck* Petrocelli who is moving to
Texas and Tom White with his wife Judy who
are moving to Virginia were honored for their
service to the VVA, their country and their
fellow veterans. President Glen Lippincott
presented each man with a certificate of
appreciation for their individual service to the
Chapter.

Chuck Pertrocelli was a long- term member
of 678 who is best known for his determined
fund raising efforts. Chuck could often be
found *can-shaking* outside Bill*s Shur-Save
or other Mt. Pocono area markets and stores.
Chuck would often work the whole day by
himself.

Chuck is the last member of the fund-raising
triumvirate. Hank *Cowboy* Evans and Bob
Parish have both passed away.
Chapter 678 is now on the World Wide
Web at www.678.net
