Veterans Day Celebration AT Mt. Airy Casino

V-V-A-678 promotes education about the Vietnam War which is majority over looked in today's school books. We go to the schools to teach the old adage that: "HISTORY NOT REMEMBERED IS REPEATED" Students are not taught not the horrors of war but that what the soldiers of that time were faced with in everyday life. |

Joe Clampet This event took place over 3 days and Military Groups from around the area gathered to show the causes they support. We will be bouncing around throughout the displays and then back to our area as more people show up to help with the display.

The pictures below shift into the WW II era and fought in many ways different from Vietnam. Generally they had a frond where they met the enemy while our enemy was every where around us and in a lot of cases within our own bases. This young sailor had a very good display and new what he was talking about. Behind him is seen a 50cal machine gun, to the right is an actual jacket worn by a pilot, they often adorned their aircraft with the women from the times.
He said that this helmet was donated by the soldier who wore it, on the day that he received this hit he had a pair of dry socks stored in the webbing so that when the shot came his head was just below the bullet, this is the exit hole from the round that except for a pair of dry socks would have went thru his head.
Here we have two different wars covered, most of the gear shown is from WW I, 30cal water cooled machine gun, helmet, small mortar round, web belt and a model of a military rifle. Also is shown eating a bowl of soup is a man dressed in a Civil War outfit.
Above are a few members from The Rolling Thunder Group displaying their pins and patches. To the left is an operational map of Vietnam, you can see the trails from North Vietnam as it flows to the south thru Laos and Cambodia.

Faith in God will help get you through many hard times, here are two displays on top being a Protestant Chaplin's Books while located below is the books and pin's of a Jewish Rabbi
