| The purpose of this site is to present information for local Vietnam Veterans {Vietnam Era} and their families, along with information which can be of use to veterans around the U.S. We will offer the ability to view our bi-monthly newsletter on-line, and list events that our VVA Chapter is involved with. The links to the left will take you to the various pages on this site. We will update information when appropriate and add more information as needed. We intend this site to be easy to use, and full of useful or interesting facts. Visit the pages on this site to see what we have to offer, what events are upcoming in our chapter, and what the Vietnam Veterans of America are all about. "A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'" | In the 1960-70's many young men answered Uncle Sam's call to service through the "Draft" or by "Enlisting" It really didn't matter. They went in as young men and returned as changed men, there youth was taken from them, their life changed forever. Upon returning to the states they were treated as "trash", names called, spitting, protest signs, public attitude and so on. This caused them to put away their feelings, to feel ashamed of their service, but now Vietnam Veterans are claiming the Honor they earned. This site is in dedication to those men, and if you see one of them, shake their hand and "WELCOME THEM HOME". They fought for the rights you enjoy. They fought for the rights for you to protest. |
